  • Principal Investigator-Hyperbaric Oxygen for the treatment of Murine Mucormycosis. Designed a Biosafety level 3 infection control suite, grew fungus in Petri dishes, developed a new murine model of mucormycosis, built cages to fit into the hyperbaric chamber, randomized mice into 3 groups and treated. Supervised residents, medical and college students, and technicians in this labor-intensive project. 1998-1999.

  • Principal Investigator-Decompression Sickness in Miskito Indian Lobster Divers. Traveled to remote areas of Honduras and Nicaragua (some of which were inaccessible by road and did not have telephone service, nor 24-hour electricity) to collect data and educate the divers and fishing industry leaders about the prevention and treatment of decompression sickness. 1997-1999.
